As a marketing professional, recently moved to London, I had to face a lot of challenges in securing a permanent paid job and lack of experience in the UK industry was one of them. Care in Mind filled this gap for me. I joined Care in Mind as a Communications Coordinator in April 2015 and the experience was wonderful.
Working on a variety of projects presented me with the opportunity to interact with new people and gain insight into different facets of human behaviour. Care in Mind ensures to invest in training and development of its team members. The training sessions on the topics related to Mental Health and First Aid were very informative. During my tenure, I organized and managed the Care in Mind open day, represented Care in Mind at external events, compiled various databases and worked on the GP referral and community centre connection programs. I also assisted in fundraising plans and activities. The journey of accomplishments and learnings has been enriching in more ways than one. I was also encouraged to learn cycling, which I had been wishing to do since a long time but never got on with it.
Sandra, the founder is a great mentor and leader. She motivates the team by appreciating good work and giving valuable feedback. Her vibrant and transparent nature ensures a friendly and healthy environment in the office. While, I was facing rejections from applications, she kept me from losing my self-confidence. She always boosted my morale by assuring me of my capabilities.
My co-volunteers were amazing people. I had a great time working with them. As we all came from different backgrounds, we had a lot to exchange and learn from each other.
I have now secure a paid job with an investment company and look forward to utilise the skills and experience gained at Care in Mind.
I have truly cherished being a part of Care in Mind and wish them all the best for all their current and future endeavours.
